Here is my preview of some of the Champions League matches taking place this week:
PSG vs Arsenal
This will be a tough test for Arsenal. I believe they are already under pressure this season due to their poor start. They have defensive issues and have been struggling to keep clean sheets. PSG are a very attacking team and as the home team they will probably be on the front foot. If Arsenal can keep PSG within touching distance they may get a draw at best.
Barcelona vs Celtic
This game is a rematch of the friendly that they played in pre-season where Barcelona came out on top winning 3-1 although they did lack a few first team players. Celtic have been in pretty off form recently beating Rangers 5-1 in the league. Barcelona suffered a shock defeat this week but I wouldn’t think that would stop them from easing past Celtic who have been poor in defence in Europe this season.
Man City vs B M’gladbach
Having played against B M’gladbach whilst manager of Bayern Munich last season, Pep Guardiola will be fully aware of the ability that his side will be up against. However, Man City are very dominant at home and even without Sergio Aguero in their attack, I can see them winning by two or three goals.
Tottenham vs Monaco
In my opinion, Tottenham havnt started this season as they left of last season. They have showed signs with a very good win against Stoke but Champions League matches are a little bit different and I feel that Tottenham may struggle to get over the line in this one
Club Brugge vs Leicester City
This is a very good match for Leicester to make their Champions League debut. Both team have similar ability but Leicester are lacking some of their ability from last year. They have sold Cante to Chelsea but apart from that, it’s the same team from last year and would expect this match to be a draw although I think Leicester could win. The big question that will come from this is that do Leicester have the squad to cope with Champions League football as well as domestic football and cup competitions?
