One of the biggest and longest running derbies in the top flight of English football. Liverpool and Manchester United have dominated English football and European football for many years. Their history, fan bases and stadium capacities say it all…..they truly are the biggest clubs in English football.
This time round, it’s Klopp vs Mourinho, two managers who have a very successful managerial career. For Klopp, he has transformed this Liverpool team into a free scoring, counter attacking team. He has made Anfield into a fortress again and tonight is one of those games that Anfield lives for. For Mourinho, a lot of talk is about the future of Wayne Rooney. Is his future fading away? We are yet to find out, but one thing is for sure, Mourinho needs to find his best 11, whether this includes Rooney or not. A lot of money was spent by United over the summer bringing in the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba. We are still waiting to see United excel apart from the 4-1 demolition job they did on Leicester City.
Games like tonight, are always cagey with very few goals separating the teams however tonight could be slightly different. Liverpool have been in really good form apart from their defeat at Burnley. They have beaten Arsenal at the Emirates, put four past Leicester and dominated Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Manchester United on the other hand have managed a draw against Stoke at home, a 3-1 defeat away to Watford and a 2-1 loss at home in the Manchester derby. I think tonight’s game will end with a convincing win for Liverpool with more pressure building on Mourinho.
