Here is a preview of the midweek Championship fixtures for tonight.
Barnsley vs Newcastle: Newcastle have been one of the in form teams in the Championship. Barnsley have won 1 of their last 6 Championship fixtures. Surely an away win?
Birmingham vs Rotherham: Rotherham have lost their last five Championship matches and haven’t picked up a point away from home this season. It all points to a Birmingham home win.
Blackburn vs Nottingham Forest: Forest score a lot of goals but also concede just as many. Blackburn also have a poor defensive record. Expect lots of goals in this one.
Brighton vs Wolves: Brighton have got one of the best defensive records so far this season. On the other hand, Wolves have picked up points away to Aston Villa and Newcastle and could easily cause an upset here.
Derby vs Brentford: With Steve McLaren back at Derby, you would expect results to improve. They narrowly beat Leeds at the weekend and could struggle here against a good Brentford side.
Fulham vs Norwich: Fulham are another team that score and concede a lot of goals. Norwich have played well over the past few weeks taking them to the top of the league. I expect lots of goals in this one with a Norwich win.
Ipswich vs Burton: Ipswich have gone under the radar this year whereas Burton have been the surprise package so far. Many expected them to struggle after promotion but they have managed to hold their own so far. Expect this game to be a draw.
Leeds vs Wigan: I’m a fan of Garry Monk and what he achieved at Swansea but he hasn’t quite replicated that at Leeds so far. Wigan are another newly promoted team and have done quite as well this season, currently filling one of the relegation places. I think Leeds will just edge this one.
QPR vs Bristol City: QPR have disappointed me so far this season as I expected to see them around the top of the table. Bristol City on the hand have played wonderful football and are the surprise package this season. They have the inform striker at the moment in Tammy Abraham to thank for their goals and I reckon they will come away with points at Loftus Road.
Reading vs Aston Villa: Reading are another team that have quietly gone about their business picking up points here and there. Aston Villa have struggled this seasons with too many draws but a change in manager could bring a change in fortune.
