A fortnight ago, Manchester City were thumped 4-0 at the Nou Camp by the Catalan Giants. Tonight is the return fixture and I’m expecting City to give Barcelona a few problems. The Spanish team are without key players such a Jordi Alba, Gerard Pique and Andres Iniesta and Manchester City should look to capitalise on this.
At the Nou Camp, City looked quick and dangerous going forward but we’re very poor in defence. The sending off of Bravo didn’t help the situation but at 1-0, there were signs that City could have got something from that game. Barcelona didn’t look as good in defence and have struggled with keeping clean sheets this season and I think the return leg will be a completely different story to the one we saw two weeks ago.
One thing is for sure, we know City are very good at home and you expect them to score at the Etihad. Barcelona have arguably the best attack in football and so this game could be a very open and end to end game with attack so coming very quickly, one after the other. There will be a lot of opportunities created and so you would expect there to be a number goals.
Pep Guardiola said earlier this week that this game is like a ‘final’ for his team and I think his players won’t let him down especially in front of a massive home crowd. Players live up to these European nights against the best teams in the world and I this one to be a cracker. I expect Manchester City to start well and get at Barcelona quickly and you never know, they may even get the win.
