PDC Premier League Darts Week 5 Preview

Dave Chisnall vs Raymond van Barneveld

In my opinion, Barneveld has gone under the radar a little bit in the Premier League this year. He was big odds at the start to win it outright but over the past few weeks, he has shown why he can be a real contender for this year’s tournament. His form over the past year has been exceptional and he seems to be enjoying the game and getting results. I have also noticed the increase in the amount of 180s that he his hitting. Chisnall on the other hand hasn’t been in good form so far. He was out of sorts against Klaasen last but the week before played very well against Huybrechts so we can’t predict what kind of performance Dave will produce. What we do know is that as the weeks go by, more pressure is put on the players in the bottom half of the table to avoid elimination and if Chisnall doesn’t get results soon, then he could face elimination. Prediction Barneveld 7-4

Jelle Klaasen vs Kim Huybrechts

Jelle Klassen last week produced the kind of performance that got him selected for the Premier League. We all know what Klassen is capable of and I guess the same can be said about Kim Huybrechts who managed to get a draw last week against Taylor. This is a very important match for both players who are near the bottom of the table. A victory for either player would give them a massive chance of avoiding elimination. Last week, Klassen’s first dart was finding the treble 20 with ease and if that happens again this week, Kim will be in trouble.  Prediction  Klaasen 7-4

Gary Anderson vs Phil Taylor

This is a match everyone is looking forward to and could potentially be the game of the night. Phil Taylor earlier announced that this year is his last year on the circuit but he isn’t holding back. He is unbeaten this year so far in the league and although he wasn’t at his best last week against Kim Huybrecht’s, he will be certainly looking to bounce back this week.  Gary Anderson is known for his powerful scoring and ability to ability to hit 180s. He didn’t play well last week against Wade but still managed to get a draw and that’s what good players do;  when they are aren’t at their best, they still manage to grind out results. I expect this to be a close game. Prediction  Anderson 7-5

Michael van Gerwen vs James Wade

Two of the leagues unbeaten players meet this week and this will definitely be a close contest. Wade has been playing really well in the Premier League this year and looks a real contender. One thing that has impressed me is his scoring. He is not known for his scoring power but he has been rattling off 11,12,13 darters in the league so far. Michael van Gerwen, well what can we say? We can always expect high scores and pure emotion from MVG. He is the man everyone wants to beat and James could come close to doing that this week with the form he is in. Prediction 6-6

Adrian Lewis vs Peter Wright

Adrian Lewis has been struggling for form in the few weeks of the Premier League but last week was completely different story against Michael Van Gerwen. He managed to take a point against MVG and looked back to himself. His scoring and finishing was superb and it will give him the world of confidence going into this week’s games. Peter Wright on the other hand, is always a steady player. He rarely has a bad game and his finishing is one of the strong areas in his game. Peter will feel that he should have beat Barneveld last week when throwing for the match at 6-5 and so will look to return to winning ways this week. Prediction Wright 7-4
