Roger Federer warmed up for Wimbledon next week by winning his ninth Gerry Weber Open title in Halle by beating Alexander Zverev 6-1 6-3 in under an hour.
Federer won the Australian Open in January, his first Grand Slam success in five years but decided to sit out the clay court season in order to prepare himself for the grass court season. Many people questioned his decision but it’s paid off so far as Federer has looked sharp all week in Halle
Top seed Federer took 22 minutes to wrap up the first set and lost only 9 points on serve in the whole match. For Zverev, at the age of 20, he can take the positives away from the week having made it through to the final but he will want to forget this master class from Federer.
